Canadian visitor robbed at gunpoint

A male Canadian visitor from the province of Quebec has cut short his visit here after reporting that he was robbed at gunpoint.

The man, who wanted his identity concealed, said that he was on the beach near the Vieux Fort Police station on Tuesday at about 11:AM when the incident occurred.

According to the visitor, he was held up by a masked gunman who relieved him of his bag containing his wallet, credit cards, Ipad, camera and other valuables.

He described the episode as “scary.”

The Canadian national, who was staying at a Gust House in the South of the Island, was not injured during the robbery.

He disclosed that initially he had intended to spend two weeks in Saint Lucia on what was his first visit to the Island.

However the robbery victim declared that since the incident he has changed his ticket to depart earlier.

He revealed that he has visited many countries but did not feel safe here after his ordeal.

The Canadian visitor said he made a report to the Vieux Fort about the incident.
