Congratulatory messages for Saint Lucia’s 37th anniversary of Independence

As the Government and people of Saint Lucia observe the thirty-seventh anniversary of Independence, Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, has been in receipt of several congratulatory messages from friendly states and organizations, worldwide.

Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of neighbouring St. Vincent and the Grenadines, remarked,

“As you mark another milestone on a momentous journey, it is my ardent prayer that the mutual bonds shared by our countries will be maintained and strengthened. I trust that our two countries will continue the very friendly and cooperative relationship which we have built.”

Enrique Peña Nieto, President of the United Mexican States, stated,

“I express my deepest congratulations on the occasion of Independence Day. I am confident that, through dialogue and collaboration we will continue to strengthen the excellent relations of friendship between our two countries.”

The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia, Hon. Malcom Turnball, reflected on his commitment to further strengthen diplomatic ties between the two countries,

“I am pleased that our bilateral relationship has grown stronger over the past year. Australia continues to support Saint Lucia’s development priorities through funding a livestock management system for small farmers, working in partnership with the Saint Lucia Diabetic and Hypertension Association to prevent cardiovascular disease and granting seventeen Saint Lucian nationals with the Australia Awards scholarship.”

The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) also sent congratulatory remarks:

“IICA wishes to reaffirm its commitment to strengthening the close ties of cooperation and friendship between the Institution and your Government and to express its strong desire to contribute to the development of rural communities in your country.”

The Prime Minister in response says that he is grateful to all of these countries for their friendship and support to the Government and people of Saint Lucia. The messages, he says, are “reassurances of the high esteem and regard with which Saint Lucia is held by these states.”
