The Saint Lucia Bridge Association held its Independence Tournament on February 20th and 27th at the Harmony Suites in Rodney Bay. Pairs competition was held on the 20th among nine pairs with the following results:
1st Place – Urban Dolor and Debra Spencer;
2nd Place – Johnson Cenac and Walter Francois; and
3rd Place – Ian Hippolyte and Jackie Theodore.
Four teams participated in teams competition which was held on February 27th. The results were as follows:
1st Place – Ian Hippolyte, Alfred Letourneau and Lorry Letourneau and Jackie Theodore;
2nd Place – June Bane, Katherine Lawrence, Enrico Lewis and Rosa Rodriguez; and
3rd Place – Urban Dolor, Irvin Smith, Naomi Smith and Debra Spencer.
The Saint Lucia Bridge Association will continue its preparation to defend the OECS National Teams trophy which is held by Johnson Cenac, George Forde, Walter Francois and Mario Michel. In addition to capturing the National Teams last year (2015) in Grenada, Saint Lucian players also placed 2nd in the Open Pairs and Open Teams competitions. The OECS tournament will be held in Anguilla this year from Friday 22 to Sunday 24th April.
The Association takes the opportunity to thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports for its consistent support in enabling the Association to promote bridge on the island.
