Kenny Anthony: 100 percent Saint Lucian !

Prime Minister Doctor Kenny Anthony, asserting that he is one hundred percent Saint Lucian, has told ruling party supporters of the importance of the national anthem being translated into kweyol.

“For the first time since independence we are able to have our national anthem in kweyol;  we are able to sing our national anthem in our mother tongue, our language, our kweyol,” Anthony said.

Doctor Kenny Anthony told his audience:

“Is you all who asking Chastanet to sing it in kweyol. I not the one asking Chastanet to sing the anthem in kweyol. I not in that. All I am telling you is that we are one hundred percent Saint Lucian because we know the language of our people the culture, the pain and the anguish.”

Anthony asserted that all the persons on the labour party platform could sing the anthem in kweyol.

The Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) leader was addressing Sunday’s official launch of his party’s candidate for Dennery South, Jerome Gedeon, on the Dennery Primary school grounds.

Earlier he had asserted that all of the persons in the SLP are one hundred percent Saint Lucian.

“We understand the soul and spirit of our people,” Anthony declared.

According to him, being one hundred percent Saint Lucian means being a man or woman of compassion who knows and feels the pain, the anguish and the sorrow of the people they represent.

He said in reference to the people on the SLP platform:

“We are all authentic Saint Lucians because we come from the bosom of our country. That is why we can speak the language of compassion, because we understand what it is for the poor people of this country.”

Doctor Kenny Anthony disclosed that understanding the plight of the people was the reason behind the provision of laptops for poor children who could never otherwise have been introduced to the world of technology.

The labour government was making a difference in the lives of those children, Anthony observed.
