The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture has embarked on a Strategic Transformation process aimed at making the Chamber more responsive to the needs of its members.
Under the leadership of the New President, Ms. Esther Brown-Weekes, Group Managing Director of the ECFH Group, the Chamber hosted a one day Retreat on Saturday January 9th, 2016 at LUCELEC’s training facility in Cul De Sac. The Retreat was attended by all Board Member and senior staff of the Chamber, and was facilitated by Mr. Robert Wynter of Strategic Alignment Ltd.
Coming out of the process a number of changes to the Committee Structure of the Chamber has been implemented and a draft re-alignment plan developed.
The Executive Director and Board will shortly be sharing the Draft Plan with Members and key partners to get feedback and their input before the Plan is accepted and implemented.
Tentatively, five Standing Committees have been established with five Key Game Changing Initiatives identified.
It is anticipated that members will embrace the new strategic realignment as they will appreciate the increased value that the refocused Chamber will provide.
Key elements coming out of the realignment include making the Chamber more proactive rather than reactive, more purpose driven, improve its communication and to better resource the institution.
The President and Executive Director have already taken time to share the preliminary work with the Minister, Emma Hippolyte and Permanent Secretary Alison Gajadhar, in the Ministry of Commerce who expressed their continued support for the institution and the important work it carries out.
The Chamber Board is committed to continued development of the Chamber as it seeks to drive national growth and development by enabling a healthy business environment in which members can flourish.
