The two (2) year old industrial impasse between the Management of Secure St. Lucia Ltd and the National Workers Union has been amicably resolved.
During the last twenty-four (24) months, the parties have been meeting at conciliatory level under the Chairmanship of Labour Commissioner Mr. Ray Narcisse.
The parties have agreed that $652,440.19 will be paid out to security guards as overtime compensation with effect from 2012.
These security guards will be paid in small groups in keeping with the company’s cash flow position and agreement to pay the said groups their full amounts.
The company and the union also agreed to conclude the current negotiations expeditiously and use whatever funds that remain to fund the cost of the new industrial agreement between the security services company and the National Workers Union.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to that effect will be signed shortly at the Department of Labour.
The NWU said it will continue to extend a hand of cooperation to the security company.
