Have you ever been to Maria Islands? Do you know what’s found there? Unfortunately, there are still Saint Lucians who are not even aware of the location of these off shore islands which have many rich yet unique fauna and flora. In light of this the Saint Lucia National Trust has teamed up with Coaks Production to present ‘Sé Maria Nou Ka Alé’ on Sunday, 13th March 2016 from 5 p.m. at the Vieux Fort Town Square. The main objective of this popular theatre production is to sensitize mainly Vieux Fort residents and others who go to offshore islands of
the requisite procedures to be undertaken prior to a visit. The production will feature actor and radio personality Carlton ‘Coaks’ Cyril, Anglasia and friends.
Mrs. Karetta Crooks Charles, SLNT’s Communications and Advocacy Officer said, “Persons should take advantage of this opportunity to attend as the event is absolutely free and limited transportation will be provided for patrons traveling from Castries, Soufriere and environs”. She added that, “The Trust anticipates that using entertainment to educate the public on important conservation issues will overtime lend itself to a more positive attitude and change in behaviour towards safeguarding our natural heritage”. Interested persons are encouraged to register at http://tinyurl.com/gwpfasn or call the SLNT at 4525005 for more information. The show starts promptly at 5 p.m., however, the venue opens at 3 p.m. for persons wishing to view an exhibition of the Trust’s work and that of other like-minded agencies.
The Trust is thankful to the following project partners – the Forestry Department, Fauna and Flora International and Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust as well as sponsors – the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and Disney Conservation Fund, without their guidance and support this initiative would not be possible.
