Police: Murder fugitive seen with weapon

Saint Lucia Police have said that the murder fugitive in the shooting death of Sebastian Michel, has been seen brandishing a gun in La Croix Maingot where the homicide occurred on March 5, 2016.

Superintendent of Police with responsibility for Crime and Intelligence, George Nicholas, told the Times that the chief suspect in Michel’s fatal shooting is his younger brother, Cletus Michel.

Nicholas disclosed that the Police have received credible information that the suspect has been seen in the La Croix Maingot community.

According to the Police official, the Police have even received a message from the murder fugitive.

Although he did not elaborate, Nicholas said that the Police will take all necessary precautions to protect themselves and members of the public.

“Michel is considered to be armed and dangerous,” he explained, as he called on members of the public not to approach the wanted man.

Nicholas called on residents of La Croix Maingot to provide information that could lead to the arrest of the fugitive.

He warned that harbouring a criminal can result in imprisonment for at least five years.

“We have exhausted some energy, time and effort in trying to apprehend him and it is obvious that he is avoiding capture,” Nicholas told the Times.

He said that the Police wanted no more bloodshed in the case.

As a result he appealed to the wanted man to turn himself in.
