Opposition leader, Doctor Gale Rigobert, has said that violence against women can be manifested in many ways, including economic violence.
Rigobert told a news conference yesterday that unfortunately, because of the rise in the number of incidents of physical violence against females, the focus has been on that.
However she raised questions about the extent to which women are able to make a living and fend for themselves and their families.
“We hear of startling numbers of u employed. How many of them are women? Are women disadvantaged in any way to the extent that their chances of gaining employment are different from that of men?”
The Micoud North MP asserted that the society needs to be concerned about economic violence against women and sensitive to the extent to which females are affected by it.
