Three families homeless after fire

Three families are homeless as a result of last evening’s fire at Ravine Chabot.

They include Vanessa Smith, her three children and her sister who lived in the upstairs apartment of a two story wooden and concrete building that was severely damaged by flames.

Smith told the Times that another family, a man, his girlfriend and three children lived  who downstairs are also homeless.

Another building, which was occupied by Lawrence De Souzay and two others was completely destroyed, she said.

According to Smith, some time after 10PM last night she smelled something burning and upon investigating, discovered that her house was on fire.

She recalled being able to salvage a few belongings.

No one was injured in the incident, the Saint Lucia Fire Service has reported.

Smith, an employee of Sit Arthur Lewis Community College, says she is moving to her sister’s place at Cacao, Babonneau, to reside temporarily until she can get herself and her family resettled.
