Clinton announces Caribbean Leadership group

SOUTH FLORIDA, United States, Monday March 14, 2016 – In the run-up to Tuesday’s Florida Democratic presidential primary, the Hillary Clinton campaign announced its “Hillary for Florida” Caribbean Leadership Council – a diverse group of grassroots and community leaders in the Caribbean-American community committed to electing Hillary Clinton as president of the United States.

According to State Representative Hazelle Rogers, President of the Florida Democratic Party Caribbean American Caucus, “As president, Hillary Clinton will fight for Caribbean-American families.

“Hillary has a strong record of standing up for women and children, from advocating to bolster early childhood education to expanding health care for millions of kids. She is the champion that our community deserves,” Rogers added.

Mayor of Miramar Wayne Messam concurred, indicating that Mrs Clinton had a strong record of standing with the Caribbean-American community.

“From ensuring incomes are rising for our families to strengthening the US – Caribbean regional relationship through economic development and her commitment to comprehensive immigration reform, she has the experience and vision to be a champion for Caribbean-Americans as president. I’m proud to stand with Caribbean-American leaders from across the nation to spread the word about her tireless advocacy for our community,” Mayor Messam said.

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Chairman Jean Monestime pointed out that Clinton had always been a fighter for the Haitian-American community.

“From fighting to keep families united through comprehensive immigration reform to providing a world-class education for our youth, Hillary is fighting for our families each and every day,” he added.

It was a busy weekend for Hillary For Florida, which hosted a number of community rallies and outreach events geared towards mobilizing the Caribbean vote on Tuesday.

On Saturday, supporters took part in a national Caribbean-Americans For Hillary call with actress Garcelle Beauvais, Congresswoman Yvette D Clarke, Congresswoman Stacey Plackett, and former President of the Caribbean Bar Association Marlon Hill.
