Judge criticised for stripping diplomatic immunity from Walid Juffali

According to an article on theguardian.com Philip Hammond, the foreign secretary, has criticised Justice Anthony Hayden’s decision to strip diplomatic immunity from Sheikh Walid Juffali who is facing divorce proceedings from his wife. The couple split after 13 years of marriage.

According to the article, “Justice Anthony Hayden dismissed as “spurious” the Saudi businessman’s claim to have been shielded from litigation because of his role as permanent representative to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) for the tiny Caribbean island of St Lucia.”
