Thieves target Gros Islet Catholic church

Thieves broke into the Gros Islet Catholic Church and made off with a small amount of cash and a table top refrigerator.

The thieves are also believed to have taken some food parcels the church had collected on Thursday of this week to be distributed to the needy.

Since the parcels had not been counted, this could not be determined with any degree of certainty.

Church officials suspect that the burglars entered the premises some time between 10:PM last night, when the church choir was busy practicing, and this morning.

The items that were stolen were taken from the back of the church.

The theft has occurred as the church is attempting to beef up security on its premises with a chain link fence, part of which has been erected,  a metal gate – which is already in place, and security cameras.

The burglary has been reported to the Police who have begun investigations into the incident.

Sacrilege. No respect for Lent, no respect for anything.
Don’t cry for them, don’t call them good boys when their karma or nemesis comes. The writing is on the wall.

There really isn’t a need for that language. Especially if you don’t know the person who offered that prayer was one of those in need of the very things taken. I understand it’s upsetting that someone could do something so heartless but let not your heart grow cold, too. They at that moment failed to realize the true implications of their actions. While others sought to give glory to His name, right in His house, they stole from Him.
The same God who sacrificed His one and only son so that they may be saved from destruction. If they took a moment to realize how quickly life is gone, remembering how life has been hard for their own loved ones, they would not be so quick to engage in that hurtful thing. They are thinking short-term. God does see all and should they fail to repent, they will suffer a fate a lot worse than the public or upset police could ever try to give them. And I doubt if they knew what they were really doing, that they would do it. Because I’m sure they would have heard from the same church before, ask and you shall receive. It really is disappointing but also a testament to our society. We can’t all be cold.
