Consultation on electricity reform

Castries, Saint Lucia, 21 March 2016 – Castries, Saint Lucia, 21 March 2016 – The OECS Commission, in collaboration with the Government of Saint Lucia, represented by the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology will on Wednesday, April 6th, 2016, hold the Third Round National Consultations on the Electricity Sector Reform.

The following three draft Regulations to be introduced under the new Electricity Supply Services Bill (when enacted) will be presented:

– Customer Code (Network Licensee Regulations / Terms & Conditions for Supply of Electricity);

– Fair Competitive Regulations; and

– Licensing Regulations.

The objective of this National Consultation is to give all stakeholders the opportunity to provide verbal and written feedback on these draft Regulations.

The OECS Commission invites registration from all persons interested in attending this National Consultation. interested individuals have been encouraged to pre-register for the consultation by Thursday, March 31st, 2016 to allow for adequate planning via ecera@oecs.org, or calling telephone 455-6368.

The draft Regulations will be issued by electronic means to persons upon registration prior to the consultation.

The Consultation will be held at the Rex St Lucian Conference Room, Reduit, Rodney Bay in Saint Lucia commencing at 8:30 a.m.

The development of new electricity sector laws is one of the outputs under the Eastern Caribbean Energy Regulatory Authority (ECERA) Project managed by the OECS Commission, on behalf of the Governments of Saint Lucia and Grenada. End
