Prime Minister Doctor Kenny Anthony has urged the ruling party’s Castries South East candidate, Joachim Henry, to ensure that his incumbent opponent, Guy Joseph, is removed from political office in the next elections.
“If you succeed in removing Guy Joseph you would have done service not just to the Saint Lucia Labour Party, but to this entire country,” Anthony said at a political rally last night at Cul de Sac to officially launch Henry.
He urged Henry to fight Joseph with truth, conviction and morality.
“You must never descend to his level,” Anthony told the ruling party’s Castries South East Candidate during the nationally televised event.
The Prime Minister said:
“How does a politician under the United Workers Party who got seven million dollars from the Taiwanese and to this day cannot explain, cannot show projects valued in the amount?”
He observed that up to this day Joseph cannot explain to the people of Saint Lucia what hurricane supplies are doing under his house.
“The supplies meant for the people of Saint Lucia you take it and you hide it and hold it under your relative’s house,” the Prime Minister said, adding: “What manner of politician is this?”
Anthony declared that Joseph’s ministry awarded a contract to repair roads and his sister was a signatory as a witness.
He said to this day Joseph cannot explain why it is that his relatives got contracts more than the value of the work that had to be done.
Joseph served as Minister of Communications, Works, Transport and Public Utilities (CWT&PU) in the former government of the United Workers Party (UWP).
Anthony said that Joachim Henry had a job to restore morality and character in the representation of Castries South East by ensuring that Joseph is removed from political office.
Earlier the Prime Minister had declared that the Saint Lucia Labour Party is a party that fights corruption, knowing how destructive it can be to this country.
