A Babonneau resident who helped rescue a seven year old boy after the child was attacked by a fifteen year old, has been recounting the incident.
Dennis Butcher told the Times that yesterday, the child’s mother kept calling him and heard a faint answer from bushes near the boy’s home.
Butcher explained that he went with the Mother to investigate.
He recalled seeing the bloodied child crawling on his hands and knees in an attempt to get out of the bushes.
“I hold the boy and the brother come and take the youth from me and they bring the youth in the road,” Butcher explained.
He recounted that before that incident he was at his home and heard the sound of chopping coming from the bushes, and had seen the alleged attacker with a cutlass in his hand.
He said the teenager thereafter went to his home.
Butcher told the Times he did not know the reason for the alleged attack on the child.
Nevertheless he said he had heard from persons in the community that the seven year old had reported that the fifteen year old had tried to engage in a perverted act.
As a result of the incident, the boy is currently at the Intensive Care Unit ICU) of Victoria Hospital.
According to reports, the child was beaten with a piece of wood.
This morning, a unit from the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) was on the scene conducting investigations into the incident.
