Chastanet tells media to step up their game

The leader of the opposition United Workers Party (UWP), Allen Chastanet has urged the media to step up their game in terms of fact checking.

“I see too many times statements are being made and there is absolutely no truth to the matter and people are just allowed to continue repeating it,” Chastanet asserted.

The UWP leader explained that he and other politicians have suffered from untruthful statements being uttered by others.

He asserted that the media are the independent body in the middle.

“One politician saying one thing and another politician saying another thing depending on how well they say it makes it true or false,” the UWP leader said.

He observed that there are ways of verifying the facts, with the media playing an important role in that regard.

Chastanet called on the media not to be intimidated in doing their job.

He said there are media reports that he has been unhappy with.

Chastanet disclosed that he either has to counter them by showing what the facts are or dealing with the situation in other ways.

That statement is an easy one to make Golden Balls. Haven’t you heard the saying “talk is cheap”? You should have backed your allegation with some factual examples of some of the untruths reported by the media. I will one thing I know. All politicians and I mean all politicians will present things in a way to make themselves look good in the eyes of the public. Take for example David Cameron and the off-shore banking affair to hit Britain last week. See how has come out with no less than five different accounts of his involvement in such activities. You have to be very careful Sir. Remember, even if once you were seen as having a squeaky clean image, that was fatally tarnished when the court begged to differ. So you see people who remember will not think you are being serious.
