Domino competition continues!

Thursday, April 7th 2016 at 7:30 pm at Johnno’s Bar & Grill, Ti Roche Micoud the fifth round of the Mon Repos Domino Masters Club 4-Hand Domino Rama continued with its gladiator dynamism.

Thirty-Two (32) fervent participants registered on the night to be a member of the elite 32 names schedule for May 2nd 2016 Grand finals at the Mon Repos Community Center.

The usual “trash talking” was the order of the night as customary.  The players, the strong ones at least, continued to progress round after round as the angry Monday night quarterbacking  by those who were knocked out took over the trash talking excided crowd.

The usual count down to the final table was as quick as having a very cold Mokaii Cult Shaker.  Thirty-Two  (32) turned the magic number four (4) – The lucky four as the crowd has baptized the final table,  in a firm whip from the strong.

“Two must go!” the chorus began, instilling fear in the weak and providing courage to the brave. The crowd rang in the battle song chorus chanting the eventual crowning status  “Matadors” and  “doormats”.

“Homeboys” Orlton Rigobert & Mark Constable of Ti Roche – both first timers to the tournament  – was paired against Sean Maryat and Linus Dorville  – two seasoned domino players.

Having the home crowd advantage, Orlton and Mark quickly recovered from first series (1-6) loss to Sean and Linus, by taking the next two series (6-5) and (6-4).

This tournament has proven that experience alone cannot ensure victory as was the case in the third series where luck was on the side of Orlton and Mark the eventual “Matadors”  and the Tenth names to be etched on the coveted May 2nd Grand final Scroll.

Qualifying winners will each receive $50.00 as well as other giveaways on the Night.

Saturday, April 9th 2016 at 7:30 pm at Valencia’s Bar Micoud, hosted the Sixth round of the Mon Repos Domino Masters Club 4-Hand Domino Rama.

Recording the largest crowd thus far, Forty-Two (42) enthusiastic participants registered on the night in a testy attempt to join the elite 32 names schedule for May 2nd 2016 Grand finals at the Mon Repos Community Center.

With a large crowd and a crowed list of players, a long night of dominoes was expected. However, the “strong” destroyed the “weak” in many straight sets and thus making this round one of the most aggressive rounds yet.

The final four – as the crowd has christened “The Lucky Four” – saw Leo Toussent (aka Master Wang) paired with Marshal Lammy (aka Tortee) versus Ken James (aka Arpachi) & Melvin Bailey (aka Chippy).

This final like most of the qualifiers on the night continued with a competitive aggression and eager.  Lammy and Toussent grabbed the first series in a swift (6-1) victory.

However, James and Bailey quickly took a commanding 5-1 lead in the second series only to have Lammy and Toussent to call on the Domino Gods to for a Miracle. Miracle Granted!

Lammy and Toussent played a stellar series winning 5 straight games to claim a clean sweep (6-1, 6-5) to etch their names as 11 and 12 on the coveted May 2nd Grand final Scroll.
