Fire victims who were left homeless by a devastating blaze that destroyed their home at Marigot earlier this week, got some relief yesterday.
Members of the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) presented the fire victims with a hamper containing non-perishable items.
The items were obtained and donated by firefighters.
Alexis St Rose, whose family was left homeless in Wednesday’s fire, was full of praise for the donors.
St Rose told the Times that he, his wife and a grandchild are currently living at the home of a friend, while two of his children are housed elsewhere.
He explained that everything was destroyed in the fire, including travel documents and identification cards.
According to St Rose, this has made certain routine activities, such as withdrawing cash from the bank, difficult.
He told the Times that the Saint Lucia Fire Service will provide him with a statement that will assist in getting the lost documents replaced.
The Marigot fire occurred shortly after 11:AM and quickly spread.
