Coconut Bay will be hosting its first ever Employee Health & Wellness Fair, titled “Spring Into Health” on April 20th, 2016 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa. The one day expose will target our over 420 employees.
The objective of this Fair, is to introduce a holistic approach to wellness; mental, physical, and financial and to provide tools and resources to emphasize the importance of a balanced lifestyle. Coconut Bay is committed to support its most valued asset, our employees, in achieving this balance.
We have partnered with several companies, organizations, and individuals, to participate with us in staging this initiative which we expect will contribute to the holistic development of our staff members.
A number of individuals and institutional partners will be joining efforts with Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa in the staging of this inaugural event. Each participating entity will be focusing on a component of holistic well-being.
St. Jude Hospital will provide screenings and other resources; Bank of Nova Scotia, Vieux Fort and Laborie Credit Union will address the importance of saving and financial management; Vulnerable Person’s Unit, will address how to protect oneself , Jacqueline Delsol of Love Fitness (Fitness through Exercise) with Zumba and Step Aerobics; Dr. Owen Gabriel, Oncologist will address the subject of cancer; Dr. Gilbertha St. Rose from Eden Garden, will address a Holistic Approach to Health; Dr. Christopher Beaubrun, our Hotel’s doctor, will address Diabetes and Hypertension; Mrs. Marise Skeete , Art of Living will address Stress Relief Techniques by proper use of Breath; Ministry of Agriculture (Eat Fresh St. Lucia’s Best programme) will be in attendance as will the Ministry of Health, promoting awareness of how to protect our environment and ourselves from Zika. A presentation will also be made on: How to grow and care for your Kitchen Garden.
The event is also receiving support from other companies which have provided resources by giving valuable donations to support the effort. These include: Super J Supermarket, Vieux Fort, who have donated fruits and other supplies to be used in our Nutrition demonstration; Windward & Leeward Brewery, have donated tents, and M&C Drugstores providing a donation of First Aid supplies for our gift baskets; Scotiabank, Global Marketing Office, Toronto, Canada has donated educational tools for children to learn about savings, including a book written for children, and piggy banks for distribution to the staff.
We appreciate everyone’s participation and donations in support of this exciting initiative; which we hope to become an annual event.
