The leader of the opposition, Doctor Gale Rigobert, has spoken out against what she described as – part time politicians.
Rigobert, who is the representative for Micoud North, declared that she is not a part time politician.
She told supporters of the United Workers Party (UWP) last night that for weeks now she has been asked to comment on recent developments in the constituency.
It was an obvious reference to the decision by Jeannine Compton Antoine, the former MP for the area, to contest the seat as an Independent at the next elections.
Without mentioning Compton-Antoine by name, Rigobert declared:
“When the part timers come upon you every season say ‘ We don’t do part time representation we do full time representation’”.
The Micoud North MP said there is no one individual who is the custodian of the legacy of Sir John Compton, the man who gave so much to the legacy of this country.
Rigobert declared that some people who are very convenient make the link with John.
However she asserted that there cannot be a convenient link and such an individual must belong to the institution Sir John founded, the UWP.
Jeannine Compton-Antoine is the daughter of Sir John.
Rigobert said of the people of Micoud North:
You have had me for four years under very trying times and I have never walked away from you, taken your vote or love because I am not a part time politician, I am there every, every month, every year.”
