Monday April 25, 2016–The Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh-day Adventists will be hosting an important Press Conference on Tuesday April 26, 2016 at the National Wellness Centre library at 10:30am. The purpose of the press conference is to rollout the response of the Seventh-day Adentists Church to the need in the country to provide preventative interventions to persons at risk of committing suicide, as well as interventions to assist attempted suicide survivors and their family members. A Suicide prevention workshop will also be held at the National Wellness Centre to better equip the church’s pastors to deal with such situations.
In attendance at the Press Conference will be Pastor Alexander Biscette, Executive Secretary of the Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh-day Adventists, Pastor Lucius Philip Health Ministries Director of the Saint Lucia Mission of seventh-day Adventists, and Dr. Franklin Bray, Pastor of the Castries District of Seventh-day Adventists, who is the Clinical Psychologist responsible for training our pastors and other respondents in the area of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills. Vital information, including contact numbers for at risk persons to call will be made available to the public.
