Capella Marigot Bay Resort and Marina Congratulates Tourist Board on 25 Years of Jazz

MARIGOT BAY, SAINT LUCIA – April 21st 2016 – Capella Marigot Bay Resort and Marina extends congratulatory greetings to the Saint Lucia Tourist Board on the successful implementation and execution of Saint Lucia’s Jazz and Arts programme. Over the last 25 years, in addition to gaining international acclaim, the event has also catapulted Saint Lucia into a formidable position on the jazz and arts scene. The country has seen the likes of George Benson; Santana; Herbie Hancock; Smokey Robinson; Branford Marsalis; and Luther Vandross, each of whom has graced and embraced the Jazz stage to an international audience, in Saint Lucia.

To celebrate this 25th anniversary of the acclaimed Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival, the stunning Capella Marigot Bay Resort and Marina will host the inaugural celebration, Capella – Jazz on the Bay. The event will feature a number of special art performances, culinary offerings and much more, and will take place at specially designated venues throughout the resort and Marina Village.

The show starts with Art Fusion On April 29th, and will feature the works of established local artists and emerging talent such as Peter Walcott. Featured works will remain on display in The Boudreau Room until May the 8th. Also on April 29th will be the unveiling of our Snazzy Jazzy Cocktails, a uniquely crafted cocktail list that will pay homage to the beauty of Jazz and Arts in Saint Lucia. The evening will draw to a close with the delectable Jazz on the Bay dinner menu.

On May 06th, it’s Bayside Jazz. Saint Lucian musicians will perform from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the resort’s Marina Village. This jazz-inspired mixology class will take place at 4:30 PM at the resort’s Rum Cave and will be led by resident veteran bartender, Denis Marius. Poetry Reading courtesy of The Walcott Museum will bring the house down. As part of the Jazz on the Bay celebrations at Capella, The Walcott Museum features a range of poets who will perform exclusive readings from the Honourable Derek Walcott OBE, legendary poet, playwright, writer and visual artist. Sir Derek Walcott was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1992. He went on to win the T. S. Eliot Prize in 2011 for his work – White Egrets.
