Two teenage girls are reported to have been raped in Castries on Friday evening.
According to interviews conducted by DBS Television, four teenagers – two males and two females were heading home after an evening of Jazz, when they were attacked by three men, one of whom was toting a gun.
The incident occurred in the Derek Walcott square after 7:30 PM, where the foursome, none of them older than seventeen, had stopped to talk amid the tents that had been set up for jazz.
“After a while a guy passed- he had on a black cap and a red polo shirt, and he told us he was just passing,” a youth who was part of the foursome told DBS Television.
“He asked us if we were having sex under the tent,” the young man recalled, adding that they responded by telling the stranger that they were not and merely having fun.
The youngster recalled that there were two other men with the stranger.
He said the men left.
However the young man said that about forty five minutes later the gunman and his companions reappeared.
He stated that as he stood up, the gunman hit him in the head with the firearm.
“In the knock I got on my head I was out for a while,” the victim recounted.
“He forced us to have sex with them (the girls) before he had sex with them,” he said of the gunman.
The young attack victim said that while the gunman took the lead, his two companions stayed back.
“After he said something like ‘Is if they will find me’,” the young man recounted.
He said the gunman was very muscular and dark skinned, about 6 feet tall.
The young attack victim said while the gunman was having sex with the teenage girls, his two accomplices stood in the background.
They assailants later left.
The teenager said that after the incident the foursome went to the Police and made a report, after which they went to the hospital.
The victim disclosed that just nearby there were about twenty people speaking loudly, but they were oblivious to what was happening in the Derek Walcott Square.
“To be honest, I feel very bad. I feel like I cannot do what I want in Saint Lucia anymore – I cannot walk as I want, I cannot cool out as I want because the place getting so dangerous; people doing so many things,” he said.
The young man said the teenage girls were hurt and crying after the incident.
“One of them lost their virginity,” he said, adding that the young woman sat on the ground crying and had to be lifted.
