Invest Saint Lucia supports local causes

Castries, Saint Lucia, Wednesday May 11, 2016 – In keeping with its corporate outreach policy that seeks to help stimulate the local economy and assist with worthy causes that significantly impact education and healthy lifestyles, Invest Saint Lucia (ISL) has, and continues to make significant contributions to a number of local organisations and national events.

For the fourth consecutive year, Invest Saint Lucia will throw its support behind the National Community Foundation (NCF) during its National Telethon event scheduled for May 22nd.

The EC $5000 donation is aimed at supplementing the NCF’s existing educational assistance program that helps provide much needed financial support to students who have difficulty meeting the expenses associated with getting an education.

During the just ended Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival, ISL sponsored at least two community events – the Monchy Mizik En Kweyol and the Jazz Finale organized by Vieux-Fort Mouvman Ansam – to the tune of EC $5000 each.

The Corporation deems this as a small but significant contribution towards stimulating the local economy and fostering community empowerment.

ISL has sponsored the two events for the last three years. Earlier this year, ISL supported the Northern Long Distance Walking Group with its Independence Walk around the Island Challenge.

For the second consecutive year, ISL staff participated in the event with at least one staff member, Anthony Jn Baptiste, making it to the finish line.

Also benefiting from ISL’s community outreach programme, is the Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN) which is an organisation charged with educating youth about issues affecting the environment and how they can contribute to a greener, healthier society.

ISL also provided assistance to the St. Lucia Medical and Dental Association earlier this year as part of that organisation’s 1st Annual Charity Dinner and Awards Ceremony which served as a platform for the launch of the “Give a Heart Foundation” geared towards community outreach and educational programmes that could help reduce the burden of heart disease in Saint Lucia.

Invest Saint Lucia’s community outreach programme was developed to enhance the socioeconomic and educational needs of the disadvantaged while simultaneously seeking to improve the general wellbeing and environmental conditions of society
