PRESS RELEASE:- Castries, Saint Lucia, Thursday June 23rd 2016 On Sunday June 26th, Trinity Lutheran Church in beautiful Bisee will install Evodia Cassius as the TLC Early Childhood Education Centre Director and Balram “Ravi” Singh as a Staff Minister. The installation will take place during their Sunday morning service at 9:00 AM with a reception and fellowship to follow.
Workers in the church are not hired in the traditional sense. Instead, individuals are encouraged to go into the full time ministry by developing personal and professional gifts. These individuals are then called by the congregation and its leaders to serve full time in carrying out the church’s purpose. “We as members of Trinity Lutheran Church exist to LEARN God’s Law and Gospel (MIND), LIVE for God’s purpose (BODY) and LEAD to Christ (SOUL).”
Evodia Cassius was awarded a full scholarship to Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota USA and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis in early childhood education. She also received a minor in communication, arts and literature. The Caribbean Christian Training Institute which is made up of members from the Lutheran churches in the Caribbean, awarded her the scholarship. Cassius is a graduate of Castries Comprehensive.
“I look at is as a privilege and honor to be called to serve Trinity Lutheran, and not just hired because the church wants me to be in that position” says Cassius. “Many people have invested in my education. I feel blessed to be able to return on God’s investment.”
Balram “Ravi” Singh has completed the deacon level training over the last 10 years through the Caribbean Christian Training Institute. The CCTI is regional lay leadership training curriculum in the Lutheran churches of the Caribbean. After completing the doctrine, teaching and youth training classes, Singh has been called to serve as the congregation’s youth and Bible class deacon. Ravi was born in Guyana and raised in St Lucia. Singh played on the National Youth cricket team and is a graduate of St. Mary’s College.
Erik Landwehr, having served at Trinity for the last 20 years, will be relocating to Florida in July. His position will be filled by Cassius and Singh. Landwehr comments, “This is a great day for Trinity. Not only are we getting two fantastic ministers, but we are installing two of our own members into these positions. This shows that, by God’s grace, the congregation is maturing and its members are taking on more responsibility as they grow. I am thankful to be a part of the process.”
All are welcome to attend the worship service and reception afterward.
