A police officer has been charged with rape and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The charges were laid in connection with an incident that occurred on June 7, 2016, in the South of the Island.
A female, said to be in her twenties, filed a complaint that the officer had sexual relations with her without her consent.
The alleged perpetrator, according to information obtained by the Times, has denied the allegation, asserting that the act was consensual.
The officer is currently on bail.
The law forbids identifying someone who has been charged for the offence of rape.
