Barbados: Minister defends ‘skimpy costumes’

Barbados Nation:-MASQUERADERS WHO chose to parade in “skimpy costumes” on Kadooment Day were well within their rights.

That is the view of Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley, who said those people who wore revealing costumes on Monday during Grand Kadooment were well within the law.

However, in the same breath, the minister has called for band designers to take a leaf from those involved in Kiddies Kadooment and show more creativity.

Speaking to the SATURDAY SUN yesterday amidst a swirling debate over whether some of the costumes worn on Kadooment Day were suitable for the road, Lashley said both the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) and the Government of Barbados had laws governing what revellers could wear in public –
