Acting PM briefed on emergency preparations for inclement weather

Acting Prime Minister, Doctor Gale Rigobert, has been briefed by the Director of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), Velda Joseph, on emergency preparations for the current inclement weather.

Overnight, Saint Lucia has been experiencing the effects of a tropical wave moving over the islands.

Already there are reports of flooding in Aupicon and Odsan.

Doctor Rigobert told the Times that based on the briefing she has received from the head of NEMO, emergency groups have been activated and are on standby.

She has appealed to motorists, commuters and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution given the current weather conditions.

The Acting Prime Minister has encouraged citizens  to report any persons at risk who are living in vulnerable areas to the relevant  community emergency group, to avert any unwarranted incidents.

The weather pattern is likely to continue for much of today.
