Sandals staff have been giving the Morne Du Don primary school a face lift ahead of the reopening of the institution in September.
The face lift is being spearheaded by members of the Maintenance Division of the Sandals Regency at La Toc.
Spokesman, Emmanuel Mercier, told the Times that from last year the resort decided to adopt the school.
Marcier disclosed that in addition to providing the Morne Du Don primary school with groceries for use by underprivileged students as part of a ‘Breakfast Club’, Sandals decided this year to spruce up the school with a paint job.
“When the students return to school in September they will find that the front of this building looks new,” he declared.
Mercier told the Times that the staff members involved in the project really like what they are doing, especially since it is appreciated by the students.
The Sandals official asserted that if more corporate citizens were to chip in with similar initiatives, Saint Lucia would be a better place and parents who are unable to provide much for their children would be able to send their children to school knowing that there is someone who cares about them and will provide for them.
“We are just happy to be here just to assist,” Marcier told the Times.
The project started last Wednesday, and is scheduled to be completed by this weekend.
