Victoria Charles-Clarke sworn in as High Court Judge

Victoria Charles-Clarke, who retired as Director of Public Prosecutions in Saint Lucia in March this year, is now a High Court Judge.

She took the oath of office as High Court Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court yesterday at Government House.

In attendance were Justices of the High Court and Court of Appeal, Registrar of the High Court and close family members.

The ceremony was presided over by His Excellency McDonald Dickson.

A blessing was given by Monsignor Michel Francis.

Victoria Charles-Clarke served as DPP for twelve years.

Attempts have been made since her retirement to replace her, but the new Allen Chastanet administration had disclosed that the salary was not attractive enough to eligible candidates and as a result, attempts were being made to upgrade it.
