PRESS RELEASE:- On Saturday 10th September, from 5pm, the south west village of Choiseul will officially launch its calendar of activities for Jounen Kweyol 2016.
The event will set the tone for what is to come for Creole Heritage Month and Jounen Kweyol in the scenic community.
Choiseul is one of the four official host communities for the 2016 celebration of Jounen Kweyol.
This year , the Folk Research Centre added a new feature, where each host community will highlight a cultural area for which the community is famous.
Choiseul will focus on arts and craft and demonstrate why it has historically been dubbed the craft capital of St Lucia.
The many skilled artisans of Choiseul will put their talent and products on display throughout October, leading up to the main event.
Craft samples will be on display and presented for sale at Saturday’s launch.
The launch will also feature live entertainment and scrumptious Creole dishes.
The district representative and FRC officials will be in attendance. Choiseul native and the island’s National Carnival Queen Tyler Theophane will officially declare the Creole activities open.
As an official host community for Jounen Kweyol 2016, Choiseul will host a slew of activities leading right up to Jounen Kweyol, at the end of October. These include a craft making workshop, a grand canoe race, river lime, a fish festival, woulelaba and much more.
