Public Sensitization – Caretaker Programme

PRESS RELEASE:-The Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, Empowerment, Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Local Government wishes to announce the commencement of the Roadside Caretaker Programme.

The Programme will run through the months September (12th) to December (31st) 2016.

The Ministry wishes to advise motorists as well as the general public to be vigilant when using the nation’s roads, during this time.

Here are some safety tips as you traverse the nation’s roadways.

1. Proceed with caution when approaching a Caretaker at work.

2. Honk horn/flash headlights early to alert the Caretaker of your presence.

3. Obey any signs placed for your safety

4. Be alert and observe cones that indicate work in progress

5. Avoid parking your vehicles in areas where work is ongoing

The Ministry wishes to thank you for your cooperation and support.

    98% of people who use weed wackers take off the debris guards and they do not have any good reason to do so, it is for everybody’s safety. There should be laws for operating them without it.

    I could go on and on about it but what’s the use, nobody is listening or will take heed. I don’t give a damn if the operators do not use eye guards, boots or protective clothing, however the general public at large will and do suffer injuries from this insidious callous act.

    Hey is this not the same as the STEP program this government blasted an rejected with just another name WOOOW we are sure a lot of HALEA CASA people being used for political points in every election by political parties

    Many were victimized under this program this is our Island everyone should survive irrespective of party in power.
