The Ministry of Education has disclosed that plans are in place to address deplorable conditions at the Choiseul Secondary school.
A Ministry official told the Times that the school building will be reconstructed during the 2017-2018 school year.
“We are aware that conditions are not the best,” the official said.
According to the official, the reconstruction initiative is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Planning.
A student of the school, speaking to the Times on condition of anonymity, said that the school building is not a pleasant sight to behold.
The student complained that persons who attend the institution cannot focus on learning because of the environment which is both hot and noisy.
The student also said that there is inadequate furniture.
Last year a student received an electric shock, blamed on deteriorating wiring in the building.
The student was taken to the Soufriere Health Centre and later transferred to St Jude Hospital for treatment.
