Barbados Nation:-THE FIRST overseas West Indies coach has given the thumbs down to Phil Simmons’ modus operandi of washing his dirty linen in public.
While admitting that he sometimes had issues with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) during his three-year tenure as coach of the regional team, Bennett King revealed he never took his concerns into the public domain.
In an interview with the WEEKEND NATION from Brisbane, King, an Australian who served as West Indies coach between 2004 and 2007, however, described his time in the Caribbean as an enjoyable one. “I don’t think airing organisational laundry in public is in anyone’s best interest. If you don’t like how the washing is being done, you go. I’m just not a big believer of airing that sort of stuff because I’m loyal to the organisation that hired me, and I am there to try and improve the organisation and not criticise it publicly,” he said
