Special Needs Awareness Fun Walk Scheduled

The Special Education Centre, located on New Dock Road, Vieux-Fort, celebrates 25 years of providing support services for children and adolescents with special needs and their families in the south of the island of St.Lucia. The Centre’s geographic area of service covers Praslin to Choiseul and services cater to a wide range of exceptionalities, including hearing impairment, vision impairment, autism spectrum disorders, intellectual challenges, global development delay, learning challenges, hydrocephalus and Down’s syndrome.

The Centre celebrates 25 years with a Special Needs Awareness FUN Walk/Run Fundraiser on Thursday September 29th from 4:30 p.m. The route is the Vieux-Fort circuit from the Special Education Centre to La Ressource via Beanefield and back to Vieux-Fort via St. Jude’s Highway, back to Vieux-Fort.  We invite you to wear a white T-Shirt and join us as we raise awareness of persons with special needs in our communities. Registration is open at the Centre from 10 a.m and cost $10 per person. Prizes for the largest group to register, draw prizes for all registrants, 1st and 2nd place male and female and other prizes!

Persons from Vieux-Fort and Surrounding Areas are urged to come and support persons with special needs! Persons who are unable to complete the full Vieux-Fort circuit can choose what segment of the walk they wish to join in. Placards advocating for persons with special needs are welcome!
