A new industrial deal has been struck between the Management of Windward Islands Packaging Company Limited (WINERA) and the National Workers Union (NWU).
Operators and production workers employed with WINERA will benefit from an upward revision in salaries. A back pay effective April 1, 2016 will also be paid.
The new industrial agreement which will run through a three (3) year period will have fringe benefits frozen in Year One.
WINERA and the NWU are eagerly awaiting the new initiative aimed at the restoration of the banana sector, as traditionally, WINERA produced cartoon boxes for the banana sector and this was the economic life line for the company. Currently, WINERA is still one of the economic pillars operating in Vieux Fort.
Preparations for the signing of the new contract are well on their way.
