Opposition leader commits to working with government to keep Saint Lucians safe

Opposition leader, Philip J. Pierre , has  committed to working with the government to ensure that the people of Saint Lucia are not unduly affected by the current weather system.

In a statement today Pierre advised Acting Prime Minister, Lenard ‘Spider’ Montoute, that since the impending storm is expected to affect Saint Lucia sometime this afternoon, he should advise that businesses be closed before midday.

Pierre said this would to allow persons travelling outside Castries to get to their homes at the earliest.

He noted that as is the usual custom, the Leader of the Opposition was not invited to the first STRIKE meeting OF NEMAC yesterday.

He has urged all residents of Saint Lucia to take the necessary precautions in order to minimise the loss of life or property that may result from the impending weather event.

The Saint Lucia Labour Party leader has advised residents to listen attentively to official weather advisories from the Met Office and to follow all instructions given by NEMO.
