WASCO investigates reports of discoloured water in Mon Repos

The Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) has shut down its system in Mon Repos after reports from residents of discoloured water coming from their taps.

WASCO Communications Officer, Dave Charles told the Times that the company was unaware of any issues in the community until it received the reports.

Charles apologized to residents for the situation.

“We are rectifying the situation now and the problem should be resolved this afternoon,” the WASCO official said.

He told the Times that the shut down of the Mon Repos system was in order to identify what the problem is.

One affected resident told the Times that the situation of discoloured water has been affecting the community for some time now.

He said residents have endured the problem since the passage of Hurricane Tomas.

According to him, every time it rains the problem occurs.

He disclosed that one well-known resident of the area was even considering taking WASCO to court over the situation.

The resident said even when a filter is used, because of the state of the water, the device becomes useless in a few days.

He also said that at times when the water appears clear, when it is used to make ice sediments appear in the ice.

    residents shoukd collect and preserve samples for third party testing. heavy metals ect.

    Wasco would never offer a charge break as a customer service gesture, all they know to do is take take and take, yet when your bill is due they are quick to cut your services, but when the issue is theirs they would not compensate. Monrepos apply pressure on them get them to pay back
