The St. Lucia Civil Service Association has recently concluded Collective
Bargaining Negotiations with the following Branches:
1. St. Lucia Air and Seaports Authority (SLASPA)
2. Water and Sewage Company (WASCO)
3. Choiseul Co-operative Credit Union
4. St. Lucia Marketing Board
5. St. Lucia Solid Waste Management Authority
All the Agreements are for three year duration.
The difficult, amicable but successful negotiations ended with employees receiving
wage increases and other benefits such as vacation leave, paternity leave, uniforms,
sick leave, compassionate leave, Christmas bonus, National Duty leave etc. The
parties to these symbiotic agreements pledged to work with each other in
partnership to ensure that the provisions in these agreements are adhered to. They
vowed to collaborate and co-operate in resolving any disputes which may arise due
to implementation or interpretation without resorting to industrial action.
The CSA has also recently commenced negotiations with the St. Lucia Police and
Allied Workers Credit Union towards the signing of its second Collective
Bargaining Agreement. Talks are also continuing with the St. Lucia Tourist board
on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement with the only outstanding matter being
wage increase for the new Triennium. It is expected that Negotiations will soon
commence with Invest St. Lucia Ltd. for the triennium 2015 – 2018.
Meanwhile correspondence has been sent out to the Government of St. Lucia and a
number of parastatal organizations in preparation for upcoming Negotiations in
respect of the 2016 – 2019 triennium.
The CSA is at the same time closely monitoring the situation at Radio St. Lucia
and has been in discussion with its Shop Steward in that regard. We intend to take
