Press Release:-On Friday October 14th, 2016, Raise Your Voice Saint Lucia Inc. met with Sen. Hon. Hermangild Francis, Minister for Home Affairs, Justice and National Security and his Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ms Elda Michel to discuss issues with respect to the Status of Forensic Laboratory; establishment of a permanent hall of justice; Rape, Child Abuse & Domestic Violence; review of protocols used at point of contact for victims of rape, child abuse and domestic violence and amendment and enactment of various pieces of legislation to create equality and better access to justice for women and children, etc.
We wish to thank the Minister and Deputy Permanent Secretary for recognising the above named issues as critical and require immediate attention.
The Minister has assured us that every effort will be made to allocate financial resources in the upcoming 2017/18 budget to address these very important issues and to ensure the RSLPF are better able to solve and minimize crime, that women and children have better access to improved services and swift justice, also equality and institutionalized discrimination must be contained by amending and enacting outstanding and new legislation.
We continue to offer our support to the Ministry for Home Affairs, Justice and National Security to ensure improved security, service delivery and access to swift justice for all citizens.
