Saint Lucia Fire Service reports 71 weekend ambulance responses

The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) has reported a total of seventy-one weekend ambulance responses.

According to the SLFS, there were 46 responses in the North of the Island and 25 in the South.

There were 4 cases of physical assault reported to the SLFS over the weekend.

No fatalities were recorded as a result of the assaults.

The Fire Service responded to 4 calls relating to Motor Vehicular Accidents, transporting two patients in a stable condition to Victoria Hospital.

The patients had what appeared to be minor injuries.

There were 5 fire calls received by the Fire Service for the weekend, which included 1 vehicular, 1 rubbish, 1 tent and 2 house fires

On Saturday October 15th, at approximately 6:05 am, the Fire Service responded to a house fire call at Austin Hill in Dennery.

On arrival, it was discovered that smoke was emanating from a wooden and concrete structure measuring approximately 24 by 48 feet.

The SLFS said after conducting a scene size up, it was discovered that the fire was confined to the living room and an adjoining bedroom of the house.

Upon gaining entry into the structure, a four man rescue team conducted a search for the occupants but found no one, the SLFS said.

The fire was brought under control and subsequently extinguished by the responding crew.

Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the blaze.

Also, on Saturday October 15th at approximately 2:30 pm, the Fire Service responded to a house fire call at Roots Alley Lane, Vieux Fort.

One dwelling house measuring approximately 22 by 40 feet was completely destroyed.

No one was reported injured as a result of the fire.
