Toronto celebrates Jounen Kwéyòl

Jounen Kwéyòl in Toronto has become one of the most anticipated events in the calendar. Endorsed by the Folk Research Centre in St. Lucia, Toxic Promotions and a group of Toronto based promoters have come together yet again to showcase St Lucia’s rich heritage through food and entertainment at the Jamaican Canadian Centre, 995 Arrow Road in Toronto on Sunday October 30th.

The day begins at 9:00am with a creole breakfast and continues with music, skits, videos, lunch and other cultural exhibitions. The all-day event also showcases demonstrations of our cultural wear. There will be games for the kids including luck dip and a movie theatre where kids can enjoy watching movies.

The highlight of the event will be performances from the highly decorated Papa Vader and the man who never disappoints Jaunty both live and direct from St Lucia. Local artists from Haiti, Dominica and St. Lucia will round off the day’s activities. Music will be provided by one of Toronto top DJs Big Six. The day will conclude 11:00pm.

Organizers say “we established this event as a way of giving St. Lucians living in Toronto a taste of home. The food vendors have sourced many of the food items we have come to love at Jounen Kweyol and the entertainment will top off the day.”
