Creative Industries Mourns the Loss of Get Through.

Press Release:-Castries, Saint Lucia. October 17, 2016: It is with great sadness that the department of Creative Industries has learnt of the passing of Cyril Felix commonly known as “Get Through”.

Cyril had a great impact in the musical art form of St Lucia and we have lost a strong advocate, and a founding member of the Take Over Calypso Tent.

Although it is saddening that Mr. Felix passed at the same time he was being honoured, we are comforted by the outpouring of support by the musical fraternity and the general public who patronized the “Chanting for Get Through” event.

In 2015 Felix was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) by HRH Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to community and the art of Calypso. We have learnt so much from Mr. Felix’s many achievements – as a true champion to Calypso music, and his legacy will no doubt live on in our thoughts for decade to come.

The staff of Ministry for Equity, Social Justice, Empowerment, Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Local Government extends our deepest condolences to his family, friends and the calypso community.
