Chastanet: Kenny Anthony did not listen to anybody

Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, has asserted that his predecessor in office – Doctor Kenny Anthony, did not listen to anybody.

Chastanet was discussing plans for the creation of a new tax structure for this country.

“We have to create a more effective system to allow us to protect the most vulnerable in our society and create growth,” the Prime Minister asserted.

He explained that a tax which does not allow the economy to grow is ultimately going to lead to the  economy’s  demise.

Chastanet raised questions about whether it was Value Added Tax (VAT) that caused Doctor Kenny Anthony to lose the last general elections or a failure to put an effective tax system in place.

“He did not listen to anybody,” the Prime Minister stated.

“Everybody said we were in a recession – to go fifteen percent and the way the tax was structured would create a recession and that is exactly what it did. All the business people were telling him that but he refused to accept any advice, Chastanet declared about the imposition of VAT.

He disclosed that his administration is sitting down with the business people to figure out ways to ensure that the business sector remains competitive.

Chastanet, an Economist, noted that if the business sector remains uncompetitive Saint Lucia would be signing its death warrant.

The Prime Minister was Timothy Poleon’s guest last night on the DBS Television programme – Newsmaker Live.

I fail to understand how vat has played such a significant role in determining elections . I do not fear vat but i do fear the upper class in our society hijacking our means of survival . I see this everyday in action ; Companies being formed to sell goods to hotels thereby excluding the lower classes ofsking a living .

Kenny listened when you asked to remove vat on medication. He listened when you asked for a monthly pass through system on gas prices. Did he have to listen to everything you asked? You are now PM. Kenny is gone and saying nothing these days. Run the country and shut up.

I supported this government however I can’t understand some of their logics. For example how can you removed the AG that suppose to advice the government and put her to advice only the PM then replaced her with an AG who have to be mentored. So you transfered 1 AG and hired 2 and that should save us money……..I don’t get it. Now mind you, this is the same AG that a minister said he will never take advice from.

To all the nay sayers and critics of Chastnet, it’s just breathtaking to see how many of you just wana see him fail with an epic fall.
It just really says a lot about you, no wonder why this country isn’t going anywhere fast. If he is doing things that are not right then the criticism is warranted. However just deliberately wanting to see him fail, really shows how vicious some of us as a ppl really are, wanting your fellow man fail just because.
That is truly a disturbing mindset, as this is a norm in our society.

When you win an election with propaganda bluff and blatant lies, then you pretend that you’re large and cannot be questioned your fall is bound to be epic in the political arena.

This country is going nowhere fast because a clown was elected to be PM. The criticism he is receiving is warranted and I await his downfall because it will be sweet. My disturbed mindset will be right there with the biggest laugh WHEN he falls and breaks like the famous egg.

The man is positioning himself to fail both in what he does and what he says. If he for once to look ahead of him stop undoing everything slp initiated and call it progress he would do much better. I don’t know what who told Kenny. That is past and gone and he is keeping a dignified silence and absence and I think Chastanet should get on with what he was elected to do how he knows best otherwise he will be told to shape in or shape out”.
