SLP calls on PM to be open and transparent with the Citizenship by Investment Programme

The Saint Lucia Labour Party has called on Prime Minister Allen Chastanet to be open and transparent with the Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP) and provide the public with all the proposed changes to the existing legislative framework for discussion.

The Labour Party says whilst being Leader of the UWP in opposition, Allen Chastenet did all he could to undermine the CIP. He criticised the Programme all over the world even when the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other institutions praised the design of the CIP.

The CIP has only being operating for ten (10) months and was severely affected by the public pronouncements of the Prime Minister when he was in opposition. Therefore, the Labour Party is of the view that the Programme should be allowed to operate for some time before there is any restructuring or relaunch with the existing legislative framework.

Instead the Labour Party is calling on the Prime Minister to inform the public of:

(1) How many citizenships have been granted?

(2) What has the monies being used for?

(3) Which new Projects have been granted CIP approval status?

(4) What are the deficiencies of the programme as designed?

(5) What are the proposed changes; and

(6) Which promoter is recommending changes to the existing legislation?

The Labour Party says the public must be involved in the decision making process, as was done by the Saint Lucia Labour Party when in Government, because of the immense sensitivity of the programme.

There is a lot going on with this current CIP issue that we are yet to hear about. When the (Word removed) hits the fan, I hope Mr. Chastanet will not jump ship. He needs to give us all the REAL story behind the Dessert Star Holdings, and why the SLP administration dragged it as much as it was a good project.

There is one thing I can guarantee
If Alan Chastanet was a baby he wouldn’t have any problem for Diapers cause Phillip J Pierre would be his Diaper for many years.
Cause I don’t think a human being could be in someone’s backside like that.
    Just to regain power.

The entry of the U.W.P into power is really affecting the leader of the opposition and his Goo Roos. They can’t up-to now believe that they’re not in power. And is Alan Chastanet that’s their Prime Minister. And that becomes a nightmare. Pierre will not resinge cause he love the salary he was getting when he was in power. He still fighting to get back into power
    Old habits die hard.

Ray Charles the Prime Minister said last week that CIP had been suspended and was being revamped. He also said that the people would be informed about the new conditions under CIP which if I recall correctly were three. Stop making useless noise just for the sake of making noise. Which public was involved in the decision making process by the SLP? You mean the same public that said they were not in support of CIP? Chooooops!

Press release after press release, I see the continual demise of the SLP what a SHAME because with out a good credible opposition (currently you’re NOT) then who is to hold the current government accountable!

Apart from a completely NEW Approach I would suggest you guys change your PR person maybe he’s been doing it for too long and just regurgitating bullocks.

“Do onto others……” It’s not that long ago you guys were in power, I know some Lucians have very short memories but not all of them.

How transparent was the SLP Government regarding CIPs and lets not leave just at CIPS!
