68 weekend ambulance responses reported

The Saint Lucia Fire Service has reported a total of 68 ambulance responses in the past 72 hours inclusive of both the North and the South of the island.

There were forty-one ambulance responses in the North and twenty-seven in the South.

There were 2 cases of physical assault over the weekend.

No fatalities were recorded as it relates to these incidents.

On Sunday 6th November, at approximately 2:00p.m. a call came in for emergency ambulance assistance at the Vieux Fort Fire Station.

According to the Fire Service, a male individual who came in from fishing was unresponsive at the Vieux Fort Fisheries.

Upon arrival of emergency personnel, one male individual was found lying on his back on the floor of a boat, it was reported.

The Fire Service says he was transferred to the ambulance where he was assessed and CPR was initiated.

The patient was transported to the St. Jude Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The Fire Service also reported responding to 4 calls relating to Motor Vehicular Accidents.

In an incident occurring on Sunday 6th November at approximately 4:00 p.m. one male individual was struck by a vehicle in Mongiraud, Gros Islet.

He was treated by the responding ambulance crew and subsequently transported in a stable condition to  the Victoria Hospital.

There were 5 fire calls received by the Fire Service for the weekend; 2 rubbish fires, 1 vehicle fire and 2 house fires which resulted in the complete destruction of both properties.

However, no one was reported injured as a result of the incidents.
