Shamrock Netball Fiesta scheduled to begin this weekend

The Shamrock Sports Club in collaboration with Netball Saint Lucia, has organized its third edition of the Shamfest Netball Fiesta scheduled to get underway this weekend on Saturday, November 12 at 2.00 p.m. at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

This year’s event will feature ten (10) teams divided into two groups.

Group One will feature under-19 players from Northern Arrows, Toughest, Soufriere and Shamrock, while Group Two will present six (6) Under-16 teams in St. Joseph’s Convent Egret, Entrepot Secondary School, Corinth Secondary School, Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School, Gros Islet Secondary School and Soufriere.

Teams in the Under-19 group will play each other once before entering the Semi Final and Final stages, while teams in the Under-16 group will compete in a League format in which each participant plays every other participant once.

There will be a short opening ceremony before the first match which starts at 2.30 p.m. between Soufriere Sand Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School. There will be two other matches on the opening day at the same venue – Soufriere versus Northern Arrows, followed by Toughest against Shamrock. The competition ends on December 3 with a prize-giving ceremony at the Complex.

Matches are scheduled to be played on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Two matches will be played in Soufriere while the rest will take place at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

This is an off-season tournament and everyone should take the opportunity to see the youth in action.
