Press Release:-The Ministry of Health and Wellness, St. Lucia Nurses Association, Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and the entire Nursing Fraternity particularly the Community Health Nursing Service Department, mourn the loss of a great woman and treasured icon- Suzanna Jolie.

Nurse Jolie as was affectionately known passed away on Tuesday November 8, 2016 at approximately 10am at the Victoria Hospital.

Nurse Jolie entered the nursing profession in 1972 where she gave 35 years of dedicated service to St. Lucia. She served in various capacities; first as a staff nurse at Victoria Hospital but continued climbing the career ladder with determination to become a competent community health nurse, the first Family Nurse practitioner, Assistant Principal Nursing Officer, and then Principal Nursing Officer of the Community Health Nursing Department.

She also served as Matron at the Victoria Hospital.

Sister Jolie’s untimely passing has brought nothing but sadness. I say untimely because as one of her Midwifery students, it pains me to know that her wealth of knowledge has been withdrawn from us, and our course of study will never be the same without her. She was one I looked upon with great admiration, and as a pioneer of the Nursing Profession in St Lucia. She is gone, but her contributions to this life, and to our country will forever be fond memories. Her memory lives on, as she sleeps in perfect peace.πŸ˜πŸ™ ……… Pupil Midwife
