The Sea Jays Swim Club participates in Tri St. Lucia

The Sea Jays Swim Club this year participated in Tri St. Lucia, a sporting activity geared towards supporting the development of the sport worldwide through strong relationships with continental and national federations, working with its partners to offer a balanced sport development program from grass roots to a high-performance level.

Club members had an exciting time competing in this multi-discipline sport involving a continuous race over various distances in the three disciplines of swimming, cycling, and running. A standard triathlon is made up of a swim, followed by a cycle ride, followed by a run.

The most self-rewarding time of the event for the Sea Jays Swimmers was the participation in supporting kids with disabilities as they took part in the 3rd Children Development and Guidance Center Tri St Lucia Aquathlon. These kids chosen by CDGC suffer from a variety of disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Spinal Bifida and Paraplegia.

Dr. Kim Gardner-Sadoo, Director of the Children Development and Guidance Center, took the time off to thank the Sea Jays Swim Club Parents and Swimmers “It was our 3rd year being part of the event and by all reports the kids had a blast. This event is an important one for our children to see and feel that there is ability in their disability and for the public to know that we can participate too. We hope to do this annually and look forward to Sea Jays Swim Club Support.”

President of the Sea Jays Swim Club Mrs. Eldris Mauricette also thanked the CDGC for allowing the swimmers the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the CDGC kids. “I think they all enjoyed the experience. Most of them were there last year, so this time they were more comfortable and engaging. We look forward to this wonderful collaboration next year.”

Sea Jays Swim Club is a unified dominant force in the sport of swimming in St. Lucia. The club is one of the longest established swim clubs with membership of over 40 swimmers.
